heART Works - A Note from the Artist

One of my favorite gifts as a small child was to receive the largest size box (back then) of Crayola Crayons, drawing paper, and a coloring book of Bible stories.  Little girl me would attempt re-sketching the Bible images exhausting my most favorite color crayons!

At a very early age, I believed then and still do that each piece of art has the Lord’s plans, purposes, presence, and destination.  HE continues to astonish me daily over this “heART work.”  I was beyond thrilled to learn that one of these works was hand delivered and gifted to the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem on November 1, 1996.  They said it would be placed in a position of honor to be viewed by the multitudes of people entering the Embassy.  It was a PEACE TREE containing the word PEACE in three languages…Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

The stories continue to be tender, many, and unique.  They have gone into many nations and to people of all ages.  It especially touched me to learn that several have gone to Holocaust survivors.  I have taken heART work to international conferences, watched people snatch them up as they barely speak English, and walk away.

When inspiration hits to do a piece, I experience “awe and wonder” as I pray through the process from beginning to end.  Some of them are so personal that people just weep as they try to put into words what they are experiencing.  I have learned through the years to just “WAIT” on each piece.

My heart’s desire is to point the viewer to the Lord and the words of HIS Covenant.  It is a forever comfort and strength to know that HE is who HE says HE is.  My favorite Scripture is Psalm 125:2.  “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever more.”

Proceeds go to BLESS ISRAEL.  Thank you!
