Psalm 1:3 affirms God’s promise that the person who delights in HIS WORD will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bring forth fruit in its season. A tree by a river has a continual source of water. It will never wither away because it is always getting what it needs. This tree would also be strong, stable, flourish, have deep roots, strong branches, thick foliage, withstand the buffeting of the winds, and bless people, animals, and birds with its unfailing fruit and shade!

A growing Christian, whether a new or seasoned believer, is like a healthy tree—planted, nourished, and fruitful. If our roots are in God’s Word and our hearts are drawing sustenance from HIM, we will flourish.
