ROSE OF SHARON
The name “Rose of Sharon” first appears in the Song of Solomon 2:1. The speaker (the beloved) says, “I am the rose of Sharon, a rose of the valley.” It originates from a Hebrew phrase that means “a flower of the field.” Sharon is the very fertile Mediterranean coastal plain between Joppa and Caesarea.
The person saying she is the “rose of Sharon” was a Shulamite woman who apparently was Solomon’s bride. The New Testament refers to Jesus as being the Bridegroom and the Church as His Bride. God seems to be using the love analogy to describe the personal relationship that He wants us to have with His Son, Jesus.
The rose is considered to be the most “perfect” of all flowers. Jesus is totally perfect in ALL of His ways and has perfect love for each and every one of us. Since Jesus is considered the Bridegroom in His personal relationship with His church, could it be that Jesus is coming to give us HIS flowers?
Could it be that Father God may be taking this to an even higher level and is trying to tell us that Jesus is the actual Rose of Sharon because He is perfect love—just like the rose is supposed to be the most perfect of all flowers. Instead of Jesus being the One who would give us the flowers, Jesus could actually be the flower Himself. Can you even imagine Jesus, the most perfect rose, walking past your broken fence to come into the garden of your life! All that you are to be and do in Him begins with you saying, “My Beloved is mine and I am His.” The more you receive His love for you, the more you will give your love to Jesus. Live as if Jesus belongs to you, and make your life His gift. Receive His life as your perfect gift—your perfect ROSE OF SHARON🌹
